Why the Internet is an Important Tool of Communication

!±8± Why the Internet is an Important Tool of Communication

There are certain questions that appear to be stating the obvious and yet the obvious, while staring us in the face, is many times ignored.

The Internet is an important communication tool and yet many businesses are not using it as well as they might.

Firstly and in simple terms, communication is something that everybody and every enterprise does. Whether it is a programmed communication strategy or whether it is the absence of directed communication, it still happens. There is no such thing a 'no communication'. There is effective communication and communication that missed its mark (what may appear as no communication is communication that missed its mark).

Secondly it is a tool and a tool is as good as the craftsman that uses it.

Thirdly to use a tool one must learn about it. Not necessarily be the expert, but definitely use and apply the tool, and not be used by it. Imagine a painter who has all the talent in the world. If he learns how to use the techniques for painting, they will be part of his know how and therefore become tools for his creativity. If he doesn't learn about the techniques, then he will never reach his potential.

Communication via the internet means learning about it, so that you can plan and execute a strategy, and this strategy is all about communication. You do not need to learn everything about the internet, but you should identify potential uses. Then if you or the company you work with has the resources to be or hire experts, then innovate or bench mark.

Communication via the Internet should be for all companies a major part of their communication strategy.

In the final count, those business that do not use the Internet to communicate, and to communicate effectively, will lose out and perhaps disappear. The volume of business and the incredible range the Internet has reflects a great but tough potential for any business. There are those who will and those who will regret not having done so.

How Much to Tip For a Massage

!±8± How Much to Tip For a Massage

Tipping is an unusual experience. You pay for a services then after it is completed you are expected to pay and unspoken amount more. This brings up the question, when should you tip and when shouldn't you tip? If tipping for a service is customary then should you tip for every service?

The answer is no. In my opinion you should only tip for services were interaction with a person brings the desired outcome. For example, I don't tip when I get my oil changed because I wait in a waiting room the whole time. The only time I talk to someone is when I pay. On the other hand, I do tip when I am in a restaurant where I have to interact with a waiter. That interaction is what results in me getting my food cooked to my liking and a good dining experience.

So the question is, should you tip when getting a massage? My answer is yes. A great massage is the result of the interaction between you and your masseuse. They tailor the massage to fit your needs.

So how much is customary? This can vary from person to person but I tend to tip 15%, and if I really loved it I tip 20%. 15% is pretty standard in the service industry and is most notably used in the restaurant world. So if I pay for a massage then I would generally tip 11-15 dollars depending how much I liked it.

I've never hated a massage before, but I have gotten some that weren't great. In those instances I usually tip around . I always like to tip even if it wasn't great, because the masseuse obviously put out the effort and it wasn't her fault that she wasn't right for me. Next time I just don't see that masseuse again.
